Laura Ortiz Gómez

Laura Ortiz Gómez (Bogotá, 1986) studied Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She worked as a reading and writing promoter in various spaces throughout Colombia. She earned a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero. In 2019, she received the Scholarships for Colombians in the Process of Artistic and Cultural Training Abroad from the Colombian Ministry of Culture and was awarded the Antonio Di Benedetto Fellowship. In 2022, she took part in the Jan Michalski Foundation's writing residency in Montricher, Switzerland. Sofoco, her first short story collection, won the Elisa Mújica National Narrative Prize in 2020. It was published in 2021 by Laguna Libros (Colombia) and has since been released in Spain, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Italy. She is also the author of the nonfiction book Abrecaminos, written for the Truth Commission, and Diario de aterrizaje. Her work has been included in several anthologies of Colombian short fiction. Indócil is her first novel.
