José Maza

José María Maza was born in Valparaíso, Chile, in 1948. He holds a degree in Astronomy from the University of Chile and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Toronto, Canada. He has published more than 120 research articles in astronomy journals.

He is a full professor of astronomy at the University of Chile. In 1999, he received Chile’s National Prize for Exact Sciences. He is a full member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. He is the author of Astronomía contemporánea and co-author of Supernovas.
