
Cynthia Wila was born in Brazil in 1971. After living in the United States and Uruguay, she settled in Argentina. She holds a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires and a degree in Psychology from the Universidad Argentina John F. Kennedy. She has taken part in numerous seminars and has been a speaker at various psychoanalytic conferences.
Currently, she practices clinical psychology and writes novels, short stories, and plays. Her stage play El amor y las pasiones (Love and Passions), co-written with Gabriel Rolón, was a nationwide success. Together, they have given talks across Argentina and Uruguay. Her novels Pasiones en guerra (Passions at War, Emecé, 2014)—declared culturally significant by the provinces of Corrientes and Chaco—El cuerpo prohibido (The Forbidden Body, Emecé, 2016), Eva y Juan (Eva and Juan, Emecé, 2019), and Papá querido (Dear Dad, Emecé, 2021) have all resonated strongly with readers. La crueldad (Cruelty) is her first nonfiction book.
