The Convent

It is 2010 and eighteen-year-old Kamila is sure she has found her she belongs. After attending a retreat in a cloistered convent in southern Chile, she insists she has found her vocation and decides to stay. Once the gate closes, affection turns into control: her calls are monitored, visits are managed, and she is told her “true family” is limited to those inside the convent. Her mother tries to retrieve her, but Kamila’s legal adulthood shields the convent from outside interference. Nights become a landscape of terror: disembodied knocks, a foreign weight pressed beside her in bed, a presence in the dark, and rituals meant to contain it. When an exorcist intervenes and a nun’s violent episode suggests possession, Kamila triggers a coded call for help. She flees under escort, returning home with lasting scars, a shaken faith, and the haunting memories that will last a lifetime.
