After Lauren McKellen dies outside a bar, police “discover” packets of drugs in the windbreaker Frankie Armstrong left at the cloakroom and present them as proof he was dealing, effectively implicating him in her death. The scandal turns the controversial writer into a public villain and shatters his marriage. Determined to clear his name, Frankie enlists the help of his brother Howard, lawyer Will Campbell, and investigator Sammy Nock. Together, they unravel the broken chain of custody, exposing corrupt cops, a secretive coat-check girl, and Charlie “Buster” Flynn, an ex-con bent on revenge. Charges are dismissed, but the damage to Frankie’s life, reputation and relationships is irreparable.
